Gypsy Haven
Gypsy Haven

After years of living and traveling in our RV we have decided to create a home-base for ourselves and other like-minded gypsies. We have found it difficult to find a place to live our lifestyle of preference in the north. The options seem to be either crammed into an expensive campground, isolated in the mountains or constantly on the move never sure when you will get the “move on please”. Gypsy Haven is not intended as a campground for short term, summer use but as a year round, long-term base for serious gypsies where we have space to grow a garden for a few months, build a storage shed if required, interact & share in community yet still have total freedom to come and go as we please.
We are situated on 2.5 peaceful, secluded acres in Harrop, near Nelson, B.C., that we would like to share with 3 other self-contained R.V. units. This would allow everyone lots of personal space in a beautiful, sunny, forested setting all within a 5 minute walk of the Kootenay River, the Harrop ferry and the Nelson city bus route. There is year round access to excellent well water but everyone must provide their own power. We currently have 3 solar panels which provide plenty of power for us in the summer. Satellite internet access is available for a shared monthly fee.
It is our hope to attract others who are interested in gardening, developing and experimenting with renewable energy projects and sustainable ways of living. We would also be interested in caravanning to and remote community living in California, Arizona or Mexico in the winter.
I would love to hear from you,
Susan
