High land prices and absentee owners in this area are making it increasingly difficult to find stable, long-term, reasonably priced places to live. If you can be comfortable living in a small space, and enjoy traveling and personal freedom then perhaps this lifestyle and Gypsy Haven are for you.

There is a new generation of gypsy emerging who is into healthy, conscious living and reducing their eco-footprint. I am one of them. The longer I live this life of voluntary simplicity the more rewarding it is. I continue to learn new ways to be and live thus reprograming my old beliefs about what I need for a content, happy, full-filling life.

The Native American people lived here for thousands of years in harmony with nature without polluting or harming the earth. The lifestyle we endeavor to achieve at Gypsy Haven could be compared to teepee life except we have R.V’s and more technology. Our goal is to achieve a self-sufficient, sustainable, comfortable community lifestyle where, if we were to leave the land, there would be only natural, biodegradable traces of our having been here.

The gypsy lifestyle, if you do it right, has a small impact on the earth and environment. After close to 20 years in this lifestyle I can honestly say that I have done far less environmental damage as a gypsy than I would have done living in a house connected to the grid. The argument to this is usually that “you burn fuel” and yes, this is true, but only to get from point A to B. When we are parked somewhere for sometimes up to 6 months we ride our bikes or walk during that time. We use solar power most of the time and release no chemicals with waste water into the earth. It is a very low impact lifestyle and another earth-friendly perk is you can’t accumulate a lot of stuff!
